Hi again! I’m Vickie Y and excited to share another card as the April guest designer.

Last week I mentioned in my intro that I live in a resort town. Our town is situated between two man-made recreational lakes. Growing up we spent a lot of time playing, waterskiing, and boating on each lake. When I saw the Live Love Lake stamp set I knew it would provide lots of special memories and creative FUN!

For my card, I used one of my favorite watercolor background techniques using an acrylic block, inks, and a water spray bottle, along with watercolor cardstock.
4 16 inks vky
I used the D2BA Tropical Ink Cubes to ink up the acrylic block (see below), then  spritzed it with water, and smooshed it down onto the watercolor cardstock and let it sit for a minute or two before lifting it. I let the cardstock air dry (a heat tool can be used to speed up the drying process).

Once the ink was dry, I trimmed the panel and then used the Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black Premium ink to stamp the images and sentiment. I layered the stamped panel over the Dare 2B Artzy Slate designer paper from the D2BA Doodles Variety Paper Pack and dark blue card base.

Here is another card created using this background technique and the Flip Flops stamp set and the Flip Flops and Adirondack dies.

Happy Sunday Dare 2B Artzy Friends!!

Please help us give a warm Welcome to this month’s Guest Designer….

I’m Vickie Yeakley (AKA Vickie Y).  I live in a small resort town in Indiana.  I am married and we have grown children and lots of beautiful grandkids!  I’m retired from the public school sector as a grant administrator for eleven school districts.  When I retired, work was replaced with paper crafting FUN!  My blog is On The Fringe (because I’m always on the fringe of discovery!)

I am excited to be the April D2BA Guest Designer!

I consider myself an eclectic crafter, creating all types of paper crafts.  I enjoy using different coloring media.

———-

For my first card this month I used the Butterfly Inspiration stamp set.

4 9 17 Butterfly Inspiration vky

To create the background I inked two of the butterfly images using inks from the Dare 2B Artzy Festive and Tropical ink cubes and stamped onto watercolor cardstock.  Using a #9 round watercolor brush and lots of water I pulled the color from the stamped images, then dried the panel using a heat tool.  I stamped the larger butterfly onto the watercolored background using Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink.  Stamped the butterfly again on a scrap piece of watercolor cardstock then smooshed the Festive and Tropical ink cubes onto my craft mat and picked the color up with an aquabrush to color the butterfly, heat set, and then fussy cut it to overlay on the black stamped butterfly image.

I completed the card panel by stamping the sentiment and using the paintbrush and to do a little ink splatter.

I hope you like this fun and colorful butterfly card; I encourage you to try this easy watercolor technique on your next card!

HI Dare2BArtzy friends!

Kelly here with another card to share with you as a Guest Designer for March.

Today’s card is using the stamp set Flip Flops as summer is going to be here sooner than we think!
This card has a lot of layers – perfect for the challenge this month: Lots of Layers.

First up, I inked the fun lemonade stamp, colored it with copic markers and blended it to give it a little ‘watery’ vibe.

There is an awesome matching die set to this stamp set – you can see that here.

I’ve fussy cut mine and added 3d foam dots to pop it up from the card.

Lastly, the sentiment is a wonderful reminder for all of us to take some time to unwind!

I hope today’s card inspires you to get inky with your Dare2BArtzy stamps and inks!

Inky hugs!

Hi Dare 2B Artzy friends!

Kelly here on the D2BA blog to share another card as the guest designer this month!

Last week, I shared an arctic penguin fun card

Today, we’ll head into the sunshine for some sun and sand in our flip flops!
The beautiful stamp set that is featured on today’s card is called exactly that, Flip Flops!
flipflop6a
 Too fun!

Using my D2BA Totally Black premium die inkI stamped out the sentiment in the Flip Flops stamp set onto heavy weight white cardstock.

These inks stamp crisp and perfectly every.  single.  time!

I then stamped the adirondack chair onto textured paper to give it a wooden, weather look.

Take a look at the amazing inks that Dare 2B Artzy carries – fabulous and very juicy ink pads!!

I ran that through the die cut machine with a sloped, stitched die, added some twine and buttons and brightly colored paper to complete the beachy look.

The inside carries over the same theme as the front with the flip flops and another sentiment in the set.

This stamp set is truly wonderful ~ and one you can use over and over again for a variety of cards!

Hi there!  I’m Kelly, married to my high school sweetheart, mommy to 4 fabulous kids and two hilarious dogs.  We live in tropical South Florida and I LOVE the beach!  We’re blessed to live so close to it where I can feel the crisp, salty air and the sand in my toes, collect shells and build sandcastles …. hence, the name of my blog: Sandcastlestamper

I’ve been crafting since I was a young teenager, scrapbooking and preserving our special memories.  I started card making almost full time after being invited to a home stamping party about 10 years ago and was instantly hooked.   Bright, vivid colors and lots of layers tend to catch my eye and grace many of my cards and projects.  My creative outlet is inspired mostly right here in our city, one filled with an eclectic style, a  rainbow of colors and nature to pull inspiration from – like a canvas painting come to life!

I’m very excited to be the guest Designer for Dare 2B Artzy for the month of March!  I look forward to crafting with you all!

————————–

I know most of you had a little bit of warmer weather – and now this weekend a little more snow!

Even in March, there is snow much fun to be had ♥

One of the stamp sets I chose to work with is Penguin Fun!

For my playful artic penguin scene, I stamped out 2 of the penguins, the sled, and the Christmas tree!!  I stamped the images in Dare 2B Artzy’s Premium black ink …so crisp and clean!  While I did fussy cut my images, there is a wonderful matching die set.

I colored them with my prismacolor markers (which are alcohol dye based inks – and look at how wonderful it colored and blended!)

I added a few layers of paper for snow banks and background, a few enamel dots and propped up the penguins with 3d foam tape.

Here is Penguin Arctic Fun:

For the inside of my card, I left the image uncolored and added another sentiment from the set.  A few more enamel dots and this penguin’s winter fun card is finished!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Big hugs, bigger blessings!

Hi Dare 2B Artzy Fans

This is my last post as a guest and I have really enjoyed creating for you! I want to thank the wonderful Dare 2B Artzy Team for giving me the opportunity to share with you!

I decided to use the adorable coffee stamp set called Perk Up to make a gift card.  I am going to put it in the mailbox for our awesome postwoman!!!

Designer steps:
Use a light brown card stock base 4 1/4 x 11 and score at 4 1/2, 5 1/2 and 6 1/2.  Use your bone folder and crease the card as shown.
Flip the card over and put a strip of strong tape as shown then press together.  This will form the card holder.
Use a die cut that is the same wideth as a gift card and make the cut through the mountain fold.
Now you are ready to decorate!  Cut 3 pieces of dark brown card stock 4 1/4 x 4 and glue one to the front of the card and 2 to the insides.
Cut 3 pieces of cream card stock 4 x 3 3/4 and stamp before you attach to the card. I used the little coffee beans and one of the great sentimens. The ink used is Memento Rich Cocoa.  Attach the two pieces inside the card then for the front run it through an embossing folder by Tim Holtz then glue to the front of the card

Cut a strip of light brown card stock 11 x 1 inches this will make a band around your gift card to keep it good and safe.   Just take your band and fit it around your card and make a tiny pencil mark as to where you will place the tape

Take a piece of cream card stock and stamp the polka dot coffee cup in black and color with copics: E23, 25, 27 – Y15, 17 – YR16, 68 – R46, 59.  Fussy cut out the cup and using a stitch die cut make a  small square.  Stamped the steam on the square and pop up the coffee cup under the steam.  Stamp the sentiment in black and glue next to the cup as shown below
I hope you enjoyed this little project!  And please make sure to stop by my blog and say hi!!
Blessings
Pam

Good Morning Dare 2B Artzy Fans!

Pam here, back for another guest spot! And I am totally loving this next awesome set of stamps called Perk Up!  There are so many wonderful sentiments included with this set. I think you are going to love it!  I decided to make a small little gift for a friend who wasn’t feeling well.  I hope you try this fun project!

IMG_0176

Here are the designer steps:

IMG_0152

Start with an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of white card stock. Start with the 8 1/2 side up on your scoreboard and score at 2 and 6 1/2.  Turn so the 11 inch side is up on your scoreboard and score at 4, 6 1/4, 8 1/4 and 10 1/2.  Cut away all four corners as shown.

IMG_0153

Using a 1 3/4 inch punch, punch out two circles and place them on the small 1/2 flap side.  These will serve as place holders for your K cups so that you can center them correctly.  After you have them where you want them go ahead and punch the holes over top of the place holders.

IMG_0160

After you punched your holes make your cuts or slits for the side flaps as shown.

IMG_0169

Cut two pieces of bright pink card stock one at 4 1/4 x 2 and the other at 4 1/4 x 1 3/4 and run them through the embossing machine. Glue the smaller piece just next to the cut holes as shown.

IMG_0170

Flip the project over and adhere the other piece to the top.  I rounded the corners just for a more finished look.  Using the fold guidelines begin to form your box. Tape the flaps and make sure your pink card stock is showing both at the bottom and top of the coffee holder.

IMG_0165  IMG_0163

Stamp two heart cups and color with copics and cut out.  Then stamp the checked frame with the Hope you Perk Up soon sentiment inside the frame and cut out.  Plus punch 3 small hearts and attach to project as shown add the bow and you have a finished gift!

Good Morning Dare 2B Artzy Fans!

I am thrilled and very honored to be a guest hostess for this wonderful creative company Dare 2B Artzy!!

First a little about myself:

pam 001

My name is Pam MacKay and I live in South Carolina with my hubby and big yellow lab.   We are new to South Carolina and are trying to get use to the humidity! We spent 38 years in Southern California and I must say that is the best climate in America.  I am a recently retired teacher and the only thing I miss is the kids!

I absolutely love my paper crafting hobby in particular card making.  I have been making cards for over 15 years and I just can’t seem to get enough!  My style is usually very layered but I also love the clean and simple look.  I spend a lot of time up in my women’s cave but I do have to go down stairs to feed the hubby on occasion!

I will be doing 3 projects in the month of February so I hope you stop by the whole month!

  4. Glue the blue cloud panels to the yellow layer and then attach to the card.                                                IMG_0106

pet-sympathy

I love pet sympathy cards.  I try to send them out every time I have a friend who loses their 4 legged kids.  I am a huge pet lover, and I know from personal experience, losing them rips your heart out.  Using Pet Sympathy made for a fabulous card.  I just adore the fun paw print!

Hello Stamping Friends!

For my D2BA card today, I am joining in their January month challenge; “Something New.”  While the challenges do not require D2BA images, I of course, am using them.

bright-birthday

This stamp set, Bright Birthday is “new” for me, so I qualify.  I went totally crazy with pattern and layering.  This set just screamed a BRIGHT & IN-YOUR-FACE card to me ;).  I once again used the Festive Premium Ink Cube Pack for the stamping of the images.

Feel free to play along in the January Challenge, Something New.  Cindy has amazing prizes for the winner!
