Birthday Bliss

Hello, Hello Dare 2B Atrzy friends!!

Janette here with my first blog post as a D2BA design team member!! I have to tell you that when I began stamping, D2BA was one of the first companies I fell in love with. I am so excited to be here sharing with you.

(products linked at bottom of post)

This card, Birthday Bliss, was quite easily created. I began with the feather-y stamp from the Paisley Bliss stamp set and D2BA ink in Margarita Lime, Paradise, Midnight Blue and Wild Orchid. For each impression I chose two ink colors. Starting with the lighter of the two, I covered the entire stamp. I then came in with the darker color over just a portion of the stamp. I stamped several images in various inky combinations and fussy cut. This playful effect is so easy and fits several of the D2BA images perfectly.

I then layered up and adhered together the fussy cut images. I chose to heat emboss the sentiment and swirls from the Birthday Balloons stamp set, and add a few enamel dots for just a touch of sparkle.

Check out all D2BA’s products here! Don’t forget about the newest D2BA Challenge themed “All You Need is Love.” The current challenge is always posted in the sidebar to the right at the top.

Dream Big Stationery Box

Hi everyone! Leslie here to share a Dare2BArtzy DT inspiration project with you today, a fun stationery box that holds a set of eight note cards. I used the awesome Dream Big stamp set, Paradise and Margarita Lime inks, Botanical Breeze paper and Feather die.

The top comes off and the front folds down to reveal a little ‘desk’ with a pen and pockets for goodies. The note cards are in the large pocket and I’ve tucked gum and some neon yellow post-it notes in the smaller pockets. So fun!

I finished the back with a magnet closure on each side.

Here’s a shot of the note cards – four have the stamped sentiment angled upward and four have the sentiment angled downward. They all have a watercolored feather die cut matching the one on the box lid. Yep, watercolored with the Paradise and Margarita inks and a water brush!

For more details and additional photos, please see my blog post at Love To Scrap 2.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project! Be sure to check out all the fun stamps, dies, inks and papers at Dare2BArtzy! Thanks so much for stopping by today – we’ll see you next time!

Scrappy hugs,

Blissfully Different

Hello Dare 2B Artzy friends!!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.  We’re having some very nice spring-like weather here in Colorado which is giving people a bit of the spring fever. I doubt old man winter is done with us just yet as February & March are typically our snowiest months.

Today, I decided to share a different type of card and by different I’m referring to shape.  Like many card makers, my normal go-to is an A2 size card. It’s comfortable to work with a familiar shape and size when making cards and it makes layouts a breeze.

However, today I’m here to tell you that circular card styles need love too. I’d poked around on Instagram and other blogs and noticed that in the crafting world you don’t see many circular style cards. I wonder why?  I decided to make a circular card with the Dare 2B Artzy stamp set called Paisley Bliss.

To create a card  base that is circular you have to use a circle die and position the die so that the folded edge of the  cardstock paper is below the cut line of the die. This will create the folded edge of the card – essentially you’ll have 7/8 of a circle, but one edge will be flat for the fold. I’ve included a picture for reference, but I placed my die face up with the paper underneath it so you could see the cut line of the circle die in relation to where I’ve placed my paper. That is how you’d run it through your die cut machine – with the die facing your paper obviously depending on the type of die cut machine you use. The size of the circle die I used to create my card base was 3 3/4″.

Die to paper placement for Circle Card

While I could have utilized my card base and stamped my image & sentiment directly onto the base, I wanted to jazz up my card by cutting a scalloped circle from some lighter teal cardstock that was just a bit larger than my card base. The scalloped die measured 4 1/4″ from edge to edge. This would form the main layer for the card front. The scalloped layer kind of creates the look of a flower which I really like.

Paisley Bliss wm 2

I die cut another circle that measured 3 3/4″ (the same size as my card base) from some red cardstock and layered it on top of the scalloped layer.

For the final layer that would be on the top,  I grabbed a circle die that measured 3 1/4″ and I laid out the different stamps from the Paisley Bliss stamp set and placed them  inside the circle die to see which stamps would be the best fit for the space. This allowed me to visualize the placement of the sentiment as well.  I chose the “Creativity Takes Courage” quote from Matisse which is a quote that I love. Once I’d figured out the placement of the sentiment and stamp I would color, I went ahead and die cut the circle using some white cardstock.

Once my circle was cut out, I placed it into my MISTI and stamped the gorgeous leaf and sentiment with some black ink and embossed it with some clear embossing powder to give it some dimension. For clear embossing with black ink, just be sure to use an ink that stays wet a bit longer so you’ll have time to get the clear embossing powder to stick to the ink. Most pigment or even hybrid ink will stay wet long enough to do this.

I colored the leaf with my Copics using BG11, BG34, BG23 and BG49 for the blue-green colors and R43, R35, R37 and R39 for my red tones. I added a bit of clear Wink of Stella, but I couldn’t seem to capture the sparkle in my photos.

Paisley Bliss wm 3

I assembled the card so that the sentiment would flow from top to bottom alongside and curving around the leaf. I added a few pearls to the card for some dimension.

Now that I’ve created my first ever circle card I’m wondering why I haven’t done circular cards before. I think it turned out so cute. I think this would be the perfect card to give to an Artsy friend.

Hope you enjoyed seeing something with a bit of a different shape from the norm today!

Leslie Turner

Hi, my name is Leslie Turner. I’m married with two grown children and one granddaughter, and I live in north Florida. I began scrapbooking about 40 years ago, way back when scrapbooks were really bland – before all the fun papers and embellishments came about. For the last 20 years or so, my paper passion has been card making. I started out making computer-generated cards, graduated to card kits, then quickly realized that having my own stash of stuff was the way to go! The rest is history, as they say! I’m addicted to rubber stamping and also enjoy making 3-D paper projects, especially paper shoes and mini albums. I’ve been known to alter a few tins and boxes, and enjoy beading and making jewelry occasionally when I find time. Thanks so much for the opportunity to be a part of the Dare 2B Artzy design team!

 ME April 2016

I’m Vicki Dutcher, and I have been stamping now for 20+ years.  I live in Arizona, with the fabulous sun, son and DH.  I am a Barista at Starbucks.  In my spare time, I stamp.  That’s it, just stamp. I love this hobby – between getting to work with fabulous images, and meeting some of the best people around, well, it doesn’t get much better then that!  I’m looking forward to getting  back into designing with D2BArtzy products.

Easy Watercolor Technique

Hi crafters! Today I am going to show you how easy it is get a nice watercolor look using the Dare 2B Artzy premium inks. I will be using my Dream Catcher stamps set along with the matching dies to make my card.

Watercolor Technique

First, I took waterbrush pen from Derwent along with inks from the Tropical and Festive cube sets  to watercolor with.  I stamped 4 of the feathers from the stamp set and stamped them onto watercolor paper.  Once I was done I then used the matching dies and diecut each of the feathers out.

If you want to add some color to your background paper you can spritz some water onto your paper and use your waterbrush to create a watercolor looking background even.  Just push the water out as you touch the tip directly to you watercolor paper and watch the ink float along the paper.

I hope everyone enjoyed my post and be sure to come back and see all the amazing creations for 2017 from the Dare 2B Artzy team and don’t forget their challenges!!to see more tutorials and videos be sure to visit my blog: Simply Monica thanks for having me!

Romantic Greetings!

Hello Chris here and today I am sharing this romantic greeting with you! I started by repeatedly stamping my Texture stamp onto the  Pomegranate Artzy Doodles paper.  I love the design it created! I then matted the Artzy Doodle paper onto black card stock.  I added a paper doily.  I stamped the heart and the greeting onto water color paper, and colored the heart, using Tattered Angels Festival Glimmer Mist.

I fussy cut the heart and added a bow and a flower to finish off the card!

Aren’t they fun?!

We sure think so!!

Our very own Melody created a sweet card using the Cup of Cheer and Hug in a Mug:

From Melody – “What can warm your heart more than a steaming cup of hot cocoa on a cold winter day?  I think it’s the new D2BA Cup of Cheer and Hug in a Mug stamps!  Combined with the colorful new Playful Field and Orange Plaid papers, this card will surely chase away those winter blues!”

We couldn’t agree more!!

We are super excited to share our new Fields of Joy Paper line as well!  Since Melody used some on her card above, we thought we’d share the entire line with you right away….

Such a fun and bright variety of papers!!

These papers are 12″ x 12.5″ with an added graphic strip for embellishing your projects!  All papers are double sided, acid free and linen free.

There are some matching stamps and dies as well!!

First up the matching stamps:

I, Kendra, am personally in LOVE with these new sets! (Well all of them to be exact, but these 3 really won my heart over!!)

Here are the coordinating dies for the Flowers for Mom and Hoot Hoot sets:

DT member Tonya created this stunning card using the new Butterfly Inspiration set:

Andi Hanna 2017 Butterflies 2 wm

From Tonya – “Tonya here, I’m thrilled to get to play with the latest & greatest, Dare 2B Artzy stamps. This card features a butterfly and a small flower from the upcoming release Butterfly Inspiration. In this CAS card design, I paired one of the new butterflies and a flower from the set with the awesome Blooms Paper. They coordinate beautifully. I pulled a few colors from the paper and used them to color the butterfly and small flower with my Copics. With the images colored, I fussy cut them out and set aside. I die cut a piece of white cardstock with a scalloped edge die. Once cut, I masked the edges of the cardstock along the scallop border; I was then able to sponge on a soft blue for the background. I added some subtle water droplets to my background as well. Next, I placed my colored images that I’d fussy cut and popped them up on the white cardstock with some dimensional adhesive.  I kept my sentiment simple by die cutting the Be Transformed sentiment with a small banner die and adding some dimensional adhesive to the back. To finish, I added some green sequins that matched the green in the flowers from the Blooms Paper.”

Be sure to visit our blog again tomorrow for some more stamp set reveals!!

Check out all of our products on our website here!  We’ll be adding these new stamps soon!!

Retro is a Hoot

Hello and happy Wednesday to everyone! Hope you’re all having a great week. It’s Tonya from Krafty Enchantments. I’m popping in today to share another fun card with Dare 2B Artzy using the ever-adorable Retro Owl stamp.  Have I mentioned how much I adore the owl line of stamps from D2BA? They are all so cute and fun to play and get creative with especially when you can get a bit retro with them too.

For today’s project I used the leaf boarder that comes with the Retro Owl stamp and created my own background. To do this I used two different kinds of embossing powder. I stamped the first two leaf borders onto some Canson watercolor paper, using my MISTI and some Versamark ink for embossing. Then I sprinkled with some Ranger Verdigris colored embossing powder. This embossing powder has a unique blend of greenish-teal, black and gold in it so it sort of gets a turquoise finish. Next I stamped the leaves in the opposite direction with Versamark ink and sprinkled on some Charcoal embossing powder that has holographic elements in it. I really like the look of the contrasting colors. To add a bit of pizazz to it, I used my Gansi Tambi Starry Colors blue gold #901 watercolor and added some gold to the center of the open leaves. Once the background was finished and the watercolor was dried, I die cut the panel down using a cute scalloped frame die.

owl retro 3 wm

For my sentiment, I used the Hello from the Retro Pattern stamp set and stamped it at a bit of an angle with some Versamark ink and then heat embossed with some black embossing powder. Next I added the Friend sentiment from the Retro Owl stamp set and embossed with some black embossing powder as well.

Next, it was on to color up that super cute owl. I wanted to match the turquoise color on the owl so I used my Copics in G000, G00 and BG32 and BG13 for the front and wing and Black 100 and Y28 for the squares on the chest. Then I used my E41, E42, E43, E44 and E47colors for the body of the owl. I had one little area where my Copic marker blurbed (as I like to call it) – I nice blob of ink onto my owl because it was super juicy. EEK!! I was able to blend it out pretty well so it’s not too noticeable. I also added some softer peach-pink touches to the ears using YR01. I added some Spectrum noir sparkle in clear and black onyx to the front of the owl to carry over the sparkly themed background into my owl.

owl retro 2 wm

With my owl completely colored, I was able to die cut it out using the matching die, D2 Owl Star Die that coordinates with my image. I was then able to add the cute little googly eyes to my owl and glued them in place.

I created my card base from some 110lb cardstock and added a piece of teal-green cardstock horizontally across the card base for a pop of color that coordinates with my background.

My background was layered on top of the card base using some dimensional foam to raise it up a bit from the card base. I added some dimensional foam to the back of my owl and added her to the center of the card.

To finish the card, I added a few, matte dots to the upper left side of the card to add a bit more dimension and to balance the card out.

Owl retro 5

Hope you enjoyed this cute retro owl card today! If you like owls, please check out the Dare 2B Artzy store and see variety that’s available (plus the matching dies). They’re all super cute, it’s hard to decide sometimes.

I then added a few doodled dots to coordinate with the paper.
