Happy Wednesday everyone! It’s Tonya from Krafty Enchantments.  I am back today with a sparkly fun Dare 2B Artzy card to share with you today.

This card uses one of my very favorite Dare 2B Artzy stamps called Big Bloom. While I like and have used smaller flowers from time to time on my cards, I always reach for the bigger flowers. The Big Bloom flower is a favorite of mine because I love, love, love how this flower can be colored to give it so much depth and dimension which is what I have done today.

I’ve wanted to create a card with a limited color palette for some time and thought this would be a perfect opportunity.

To start this card, I created a background first. I will admit, I am a newbie when it comes to a lot of products and techniques. Like you, I peruse blogs and watch videos for the latest and greatest techniques. When I saw glitter paste for the first time, I wondered how I could get my hands on some. However, when I tried it for the first time I wondered where this product had been all my life seriously! It is so sparkly and the colors are so pretty, I knew I needed to make a background with it. The glitter paste I used for today’s project is from Bo Bunny and the color is Caribbean. To create this background I cut a piece of white 110 lb cardstock to 4 x 5. I cut my cardstock a little larger in case I needed to cut the finished background down a bit.

I grabbed a stencil from Brutus Monroe called Paint Spots. It’s a nice stencil with a lot of imperfect circle spots on it that are each about the size of a dime which makes it perfect for a background. You can tape your cardstock to the stencil so it does not move or shift or you can hold it in place as you work which is what I chose to do.

Next, I used my pallet knife and dipped it into my glitter pastes and began smearing on an even coat of the gorgeous Caribbean blue sparkle. Once the entire stencil covering my cardstock was completely filled in with the glitter paste, I carefully removed the stencil from my cardstock. It is always a good practice to wash off your stencil and pallet knife right away to remove the glitter paste before it dries to your crafty tools.

Depending on how thick you put on the glitter paste, you may need to let it dry for a few minutes to a few hours. I always let it sit while I am working on other elements on my project and that is usually plenty of drying time.

Next, it was on to stamping my Big Bloom flower onto some 80 lb Neenah Solar White Cardstock with some Totally Black ink from Dare 2B Artzy. Finally, I was ready to color. In keeping with my limited color scheme, I chose some Copic markers that would match with the Carribean blue of my background. I used BG07, BG05, BG03, BG01, BG000 for my blues and then selected some cool grey colors of C7, C5, C3, C1 and C00. I colored the flower with the grey center leading out to the blue-green tips of the petals with a little highlight in between where the lightest colors blend together. The highlight helps give the look and feel of the petals bending back a bit and adds some dimension. I really love the finished look of the grey and blue-green together on this flower.

For my leaves, I decided to use a slightly different blue-green combination and colored them with BG23, BG11 and BG000 along with the C5, C3, C1 and C0.

When I was finished coloring, I fussy cut the flower out and added some Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle to the white dots on the flower petals and a little sparkly gemstone in the center.

I really was not sure what type of sentiment I was going to add to my card. It just happened that I had ordered some stamps from Dare 2B Artzy and my order had come that day and it contained the perfect sentiment from the Fun Titles stamp set. The sentiment read, “You add Sparkle to my Life”. I felt that it was the perfect addition to my card.

I did not want my sentiment to detract from the rest of the card and my sparkly background so I stamped it onto some vellum with some Versamark and heat embossed it with some Blue Odyssey embossing powder from Nuvo. I cut the embossed sentiment out with a fishtail flag die.

Before assembling my card, I checked to make sure the glitter paste on my background was dry by lightly pressing my finger onto several of the background dots. I cut the background panel down a bit so that it was 3 ½ x 4 ½ and then I rounded each of the corners.

I cut a piece of black cardstock with my mini-scalloped rectangle die and mounted that to an A2 size white card base made from 110 lb cardstock with some dimensional foam. I layered on my glittery background and placed my flower on top with some dimensional foam as well. I used some strategically placed dimensional foam strips onto my sentiment and tucked it under my flower to finish the card.

I am thrilled at the way this card turned out with the limited colors used. I think it looks so pretty. The background dots really add a lot of pizazz to the card so it worked well to limit my colors on the rest of the card.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today. Remember you can pick up my favorite stamp, Big Bloom in the Dare 2B Artzy store today along with so many other awesome stamps and products. You can check all of the available stamps, dies, inks and papers here.

Hugs & Happy Wednesday!

Good Morning Dare 2B Artzy Friends!

I love giving gift cards to my nieces and nephews.  It is what they always want. I decided that I would make it a little more personal by making a gift card holder.  I do think that gift cards are somewhat impersonal.  But with that said so easy!!

 1.  Start with a 4 1/8 x 9 3/4 piece of white card stock.  Score at 2 1/8, 5, 6 and 7. Fold as shown this is the inside of the gift card

 2.  Cut 4 pieces of Dare 2b Artzy DP at 4 x 2 3/4 and cut 2 pieces at 2 x 4.  Working on the inside of the card glue one of the 4 x 2 3/4 down as shown

 3.  Flip the card over and glue the mountain fold (which is now the vally fold) together.  Then flip the card back over

 4.  On the inside glue the flap for the card holder with a tiny lines of glue on both of the edges and push it down onto the DP

 5.  Still working on the inside glue the 2 x 4 inch DP to the top flap and glue the 2 3/4 x 4 piece of DP to the bottom half of the gift card

 6.  Flip the card over and glue down the DP to the front of the card

 7.  Using the Hoot Hoot Dare 2B Artzy set stamp and color the owl.  Cut the owl out with the coordinating die cuts

 8.  Stamp the sentiment from the Hoot Hoot set and layer on DP

9.  Add a small velcro dot to serve as a secure latch

This gift card can be made so many times and with all different kinds of stamps!  Hope you give it a try!

Happy birthday to all of the August babies out there!  It’s Melody from Handmade Card Happiness and Instagram sending out birthday wishes even if you weren’t born in August!

If you need to make some quick birthday cards, this Dare 2B Artzy Cupcake Background Die is for you!  I started out by doing some ink blending with Distress Oxides on white card stock.  I trimmed this panel using the stitched rectangle which is one of three dies included in the Cupcake Background Die Set.

Next, I stamped a sentiment from the Celebration Numbers stamp set using the Chocolate Chip Ink.  I cut the sentiment out with the cupcake paper die included in the background die set and added a little ink around the edges.  The background die was cut from brown card stock and adhered over the ink blended panel.  After adhering the cupcake sentiment with foam tape, a red gem was added, and this fun card was completed!

This die set could be used for all kinds of occasions!  Couldn’t you just picture using it for a retirement celebration, a party invitation, or including it with some baked goods for your coworkers?  You have to love a great die set with endless possibilities!

Don’t forget to link your new projects to the Dare 2B Artzy August Pastel Colors Challenge!  You might win a stamp set and ink pad of your choice!

Happy stamping!

Christmas is ONLY about 4-1/2 months away!  Crazy, huh?  Have you started making cards yet?  If not, check out the Seasonal Stamps at Dare 2B Artzy.  I’m sure you will LoVe them!  I used the Penguin Fun set for today’s card:
This simple card was so easy to make.  I added a little color with my Copic markers and framed up the image with some die cuts and added a wide lace and some sequence.  This would be an easy and fun card to make multiples of.  Since I send out over 100 cards annually, multiples are good!
Here’s a close-up of that adorable penguin showing the simple dimension I added with a little pop tape:

Hi D2BA Friends!

Tasha here sharing a new holiday card created with the lovely Snowflake Wishes stamp set!

The card base was cut from pale pink textured cardstock and I layered pretty D2BA pattern paper and silver glitter paper on top. These pastel colors look great in holiday projects and I just love all the sparkle!!!

To complete the front of the card, I stamped two snowflakes in pink and adhered rhinestones to the centers. I also added random rhinestones on the paper for more shine.

Lastly, the small layered snowflake was attached with foam tape just below the flap to keep everything flat. The tape was only added to the bottom allowing the top flap to easily be pulled up or put back into place.

When you lift the top flap, you still see the beautiful snowflakes and all the shimmer, but pulling the middle section down reveals your message.

To complete this design, I stamped the sentiment “Snowflakes are Angel Kisses” in pink and layered it on coordinating silver glitter paper. There is also tons of room to add a handwritten note for someone special.

I hope you enjoyed this holiday project!

Hi Chris here and today I am excited to share this cheery card I created using the Raggity Rabbit Stamp set.

17240P_RaggityRabbit.png

I love using seasonal stamps throughout the whole year to get the most out of my stamps.   To create this card start by placing a piece of D2BA Fields of Joy Flower Power paper onto your card base.

Stamp the rabbit and basket with D2BA Totally Black Premium Ink.  Color the images with your favorite markers.  (I choose Chameleon Markers in NV4 BR2, RD3, GR3, YL2, PK3, and DR3).  Matte your colored image onto red cardstock. Place stamped image over let side of card.

Stamp your sentiment and mat onto blue cardstock and adhere to right side of card to finish off card.

I hope you enjoyed this bright and cheery card!

Have a Happy Colorful Day!

Hi everyone, Tonya here from KraftyEnchantments.com. How is your Wednesday going? I am so glad we are at the mid-way point of this week as it has been a long one already! I have the weekend in my sights. I am happy to be here to share a fun card featuring the new Dare 2B Artzy Playful Posies.

These stamps are so fun because they have the wonderful solid flower and then the outline of the flower. You can really play with the arrangement and layering of these flowers and come up with a multitude of different ways to use them. I love stamp sets that offer that kind of variety because you always feel like they are a good value for your hard earned crafting dollar.

Today, I am going to showcase one way to use these awesome stamps.

I had heard and seen other crafters use their Distress Oxide inks on dark colored cardstock so I decided to try it for myself.

I cut a piece of cardstock to 6 x 8 inches so that it would fit inside my MISTI. Next I gathered the Playful Posies solid flower silhouettes from the set and began playing with arranging them onto my cardstock. Once I was satisfied with the placement, I grabbed several of my Distress Oxide inks and began inking up the flowers with some random colors. I am unsure if it was the brand of cardstock I was using, but I had a bit of a tough time getting a clean image to ink up with the oxides. I had to stamp each of the flowers 3-4 times to get a clean impression. Ultimately they ended up looking OK, but I am thankful for my MISTI because stamping multiple times with a stamp block is a bit more difficult.

I continued stamping and changing up colors for different flowers to get some variation of colors for my background.

To fill in some of the gaps, I used the smallest solid pieces and stamped them randomly to fill in some of the larger empty spaces between the flowers.

Once I was satisfied with the background, I zapped the background with my heat gun to speed along the drying of the distress inks. I wanted to make sure I didn’t have any areas of wet ink when I used my EK Success anti-static tool, otherwise I’d risk smearing the ink.

Once the background flowers dried, they really took on that look of chalk on a blackboard which looks really cool on the black cardstock.

Next, I ran my anti-static powder over the entire background. Finally, I stamped the outline flowers from the Playful Posies set with some Versamark ink and sprinkled with some super fine detail white embossing powder. I considered using some different embossing powders for my flower outlines, but was not sure how well they’d show against the black background. I may have to experiment with that in the future.

With my background complete, I was able to use a scalloped rectangle that was 4 1/8 x 5 1/4 and die cut it. I cut a second rectangle that was 5 ½ x 4 3/8 to use as my main layer on the card.

I cut two sizes of the wide fishtail flags, one from some of the same dark blue cardstock as my background and one from some white. On the white fishtail flag, I stamped and embossed the To a Special Friend message from the Dare 2B Artsy Flowers for Mom stamp set. I sprinkled it with some violet embossing powder and heat set it. It matched the purple in my flowers really well. I added a bit of clear Wink of Stella pen to the outer edges of my flags for just a hint if sparkle.

Finally I was ready to assemble all of my layers using some dimensional foam between each layer.

I used a white Jelly Roll pen to add some white dots to some of my filler images to give them a bit of detail.

Next, I was able to add some silver embellishment gems to the center of my flowers using a bit of sheer glue.

I love how the card turned out and the little silver gems add some dimension a bit of pop to the flowers.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my take on the Dare 2B Artzy Playful Posies. There are endless possibilities with these stamps and I am really looking forward to playing with them some more in my upcoming posts.

Check out the Dare 2B Artzy store for these new release stamps and so many others including dies, paper and inks.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Hugs,

Tonya

Good Morning Dare 2B Artzy Friends!

I am Pam MacKay from Stamperatheart.  This is my first post as a new design team member and I am thrilled to be joining this team of wonderful ladies!  The stamps, papers and dies are fantastic and so much fun to work with! This card has some fun folds and secret message!

Design steps:

1.  Begin with an 8 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of navy card stock and score at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2.  Cut the flap off at the 2 3/4 score line.

 2.  For the inside large flap cut a piece of white card stock 5 1/4 x 4 and glue down.  Then cut a piece of Dare 2B Artzy designer paper 5 x 3 3/4 and glue to the white card stock

 3. Now for the secret flap. Cut a strip of navy card stock 2 3/4 x 8 1/2 and score at 4 1/4.  Fold in half. Cut a piece of red card stock 4 x 2 1/2 and a piece of Dare 2B Artzy designer paper 3 3/4 x 2 1/4.  Fold the navy strip vertically along the score line and glue the red to the front and then the DP to the red.

 4.  Close the main body of the card along the score line and run tape on the flap as shown.  Then glue the small card to the flap

 5.  To decorate the front of the card use the Dare 2B Artzy designer paper cut out 2 flowers and 2 leaves.

 6.   Cut a piece of navy 4 x 2 1/2 then emboss a piece of pink 3 3/4 x 2 1/4. Glue the piece together and add the flowers

 7.  Glue the panel to the front flap directly over the navy DP

 8.  Add your sentiment by stamping in navy and making off the part that says unto the Lord

 9. Layer the sentiment onto navy card stock and attach to card as shown

10.  Open up the front flap and cut a piece of red card stock 4 x 2 glue inside flap

11. Stamp the remaining part of the verse unto the Lord on white and then layer onto navy and glue inside flap adding another flower from the Dare 2B Artzy designer paper

 12.  On the inside of the main body of the card add a piece of with card stock 4 x 2 to write your message and name

13.  Add a few sparkle sequins to finish off your project!

Hi all, Vicki here.  Today I used layers of stamping, along with making a shaker birthday card.

I started with a card panel and sponged on color.  I then used a couple of images and stamped with different color ink for a fun layered panel.

I used the following sets:

Butterfly Kisses                           Love is in the Air                Texture                                          Bright Birthday

Once that was done, I cut out a scalloped circle, made it a “shaker circle”, and adhered onto the card panel.

I stamped and fussy cut the candle and finally, using a piece of designer paper. I finished off the card.  Once again, this card qualifies for our monthly challenge; bright colors.  Have you played along?

See you next month~

Hi, Dare 2B Artzy friends!

Tasha here from CraftyPinkPixie.com sharing a new thank-you easel card!

The base was created with navy blue cardstock and layered with white textured paper and cool plaid D2BA pattern paper. I love the colors in this plaid print!

The sentiment was cut with the new “Thanks” layer die set; the word was so easy to cut out and I like that the shadow is optional!

When you open the card, a sweet message is revealed. I selected “You are simply Wonderful” from the Blissful Blooms set and stamped it in orange. I wanted a bright color and the orange pops against the white.

Lastly, I embellished with flowers from the Wishing Happiness stamp set. They were colored with markers in red, dark orange, and blue to match the plaid paper. I also layered clear glitter on top to add tons of sparkle! This card is so cheerful and is a perfect way say thank-you to someone special!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hi everyone! Leslie here to share a Dare2BArtzy DT inspiration project with you today, a fun flower sandal using three papers from the Fields of Joy Collection Paper Pack – Orange Plaid, Hoot Hoot and Owls & Flowers. This is my last post for the Dare 2B Artzy design team and I thank these ladies for this amazing opportunity – I’ve had a great time! I’ll be back in a few months as a guestie!

Cindy, owner of Dare 2B Artzy, asked me to create a sandal for her to take to craft shows for display, and this adorable sandal is what I came up with. I created a flip flop template several years ago that I use to make the flip flops and other sandals in my paper shoe collection which you can find HERE if you’re interested in looking. This sandal has a heel, however, and the others do not (template has no heel) but I will soon update my template to include the optional heel.

Hard to believe there is no stamping on this project. Just gorgeous paper. I targeted a pink and red flower and cut out several of them to layer the different pieces. I added some clear Morning Dew Crystal Drops to the largest pink layer and several tiny silver seed beads (adhered with the Crystal Drops) to the center of the flower for a ‘jeweled’ effect.

For more details and additional photos, please see my blog post at Love To Scrap 2.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project! Be sure to check out all the fun stamps, dies, inks and papers at Dare2BArtzy! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Scrappy hugs,
Leslie

Hi everyone! Tonya here from Krafty Enchantments.com  I hope you are having a wonderful summer so far and that you’re finding ways to stay cool! I am not a summer person at all. I am good for about a week of 90+ temps and then beyond that I am ready for fall/winter again. It has been hot, hot, hot here in Colorado with temperatures in the 90 degrees the past few weeks which has me daydreaming about fall and cooler weather.

I am back today to share a fun Dare 2B Artzy card to today that will have you thinking about the tropics, at least it did me.

I started off by coloring the gorgeous flower from the new Wishing Happiness stamp set. This set has some beautiful, larger flowers which are great for coloring and showcasing all kinds of techniques. For my flower, I stamped it with some Dare to Be Artzy Totally Black ink and colored it with my Copic Markers. With our July challenge in mind I decided to color it with some bright yellow-greens, turquoise and pink colors. I love that with the larger flowers like this you can really get some good depth and detail in your coloring regardless of whether you are using your favorite alcohol markers or your colored pencils.

Once I’d finished coloring my flower, I was able to fussy cut it out and set it aside. Next, I stamped and colored two sets of the leaves from the Wishing Happiness stamp set. Again, I colored with my Copic markers choosing some complimentary bright colors and not the traditional colors of leaves. Who says leaves can’t be turquois and orangey-yellow right? Once I’d finished coloring them I fussy cut them out as well.

Once all of my images were colored, I was ready to move on to creating a background. I’d recently picked up a fun frame die from Reverse Confetti called Hello Square. It caught my eye because the sentiment was attached to the fun frame. The frame measures about 4 ¼ x 4 ¼.  I decided to use this die to cut a piece of my Dare 2B Artzy cardstock from the Artzy Doodles Variety Paper Pack. This paper is a gorgeous shade of teal-green which really complimented my colored images. I used the die to cut two of the frames; one from the Artzy Doodles paper and one from a piece of 80 lb white cardstock. I was excited that the polka dot edge of the Artzy Doodles paper lined up perfectly so I was able to incorporate that little polka dot border into the card design. I like the touch of variety it gives.

I wanted the hello from the die cut frame to stand out. To do that, I used a T-ruler to draw a faint pencil line along the bottom of the hello sentiment on the frame so that it would have a straight edge. I was then able to use my scissors to cut the hello off the frame. I was then able to take that hello and glue it on top of my frame that I cut from the Artzy Doodles paper.  The white hello that I’d removed from the frame worked out beautifully once I’d glued it over the attached hello cut from the Artzy Doodles paper. It is hard to tell that it was even from a separate die cut. Once the glue had dried, I used some clear Wink of Stella glitter pen over the white letters for some shimmer.

Finally, I was able to pull out my Distress Oxide inks to get inky and create a beautiful backdrop for my Dare 2B Artzy flower and the frame. I die cut a piece of 80 lb white cardstock from a square die that measured about 4 ¾ x 4 ¾.  Once cut, I used my ink blending took to sponge on and blend; Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers, onto the white cardstock. I started with the Fossilized Amber and moved my way through the colors until I had a smooth transition of color. I did go back over the Amber and Marmalade a bit more to deepen the colors. Once I was finished, I spritzed some water into my hand and flicked and dropped it onto my background to activate the ink/water magic. It created some great water drops on the background which gave it some added interest. I set it aside to let the water drops dry completely before assembling my card.

My card base measured 5 x 10 and was scored at the middle point to create a top folding card base. Once my background was dry, I added some dimensional foam to my distress ink blended square. Next, I used some 1/8 inch adhesive tape on the back of the frame and on the hello letters to make sure it would adhere to my background. The adhesive tape worked better because the sections of the frame were too narrow for any kind of glue runner and I didn’t want to have liquid glue everywhere.  I left the top portion of the H without any adhesive tape on it so that I would be able to slide my flower in underneath the sentiment.

Once I had removed all the backing from the adhesive tape, I positioned my frame over the background and made sure it was straight before pressing it down onto the background layer.  Next, with a small amount of Ranger glossy Accents added to the back of the flower and leaves; I slid my flower in under the H in hello and over the upper right corner of the frame and then tucked one set of my colored leaves behind the flower. I decided to only use one set of leaves as I felt that two would have been too much.

Finally, I added some iridescent sequins to the front of the card for some extra sparkle. I love how they reflect the many different colors on my card. I think the iridescent sequins are my new favorites.

I think with all the wonderful bright colors and the gorgeous Dare 2B Artzy flower from the Wishing Happiness my card certainly fits the July Challenge, but it turned out to have a bit of a tropical feel as well which I really love.

Don’t forget that there are a few more days left in the July Challenge so you still have some time to create something bright and submit it for your chance to win a Dare 2B Artzy stamp and Ink pad of your choice. You could even grab the stamp set I have used today and create your own tropical themed card. I’ve added a link here so you can check out all the details of the challenge: Dare 2B Artzy Challenge Bright Colors July 2017.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s card and it’s inspired you to do something Artzy today!

Have a great day!

Good Monday to you, Dare 2B Atrzy friends!!

Janette here sharing with you a card featuring Butterfly Inspiration, Playful Posies Layered and Textures!

Today’s featured medium is colored pencils, and technique is creating depth using black. Don’t be afraid to venture to the dark side! A guide to complete this card is included here, but I’ve also created a YouTube tutorial that you can find near the bottom of this post.

I began by stamping the butterfly and greenery in D2BA Totally Black ink and then used Prismacolor Premier pencils in a few olive-y shades of green, plus a turqouise and a black for the leaves. Begin with the darkest green and flick with a light hand toward the outer area of the leaf. I prefer to flick away from myself, turning the piece often. It is the same motion I use with Copic markers. With each lighter color extend the color a bit further than the last. Plan to leave a touch of a white highlight at the outer edge. Then, as the final color, go back in with black, just near the stem to achieve that deep rich depth. The contrast of the black recesses the inside of the leaf where the white on the outer edge appears to bring that side forward.

The same technique is used on the butterfly. I’ve gone from red hues to yellow, while still leaving the white highlight along the edge. I’ve used a white blender pencil to get the glow in the red outer area of the wings.

I’ve used the D2BA Textures stamp set to create gold tinsel embossing in the background, a touch of stripe and added a few clear sequins for sparkle.

This was such a fun card. Catch the YouTube video tutorial below for a more in depth look and how to. You can do this!

Welcome Dare 2B Artzy fans!!  Karen N here from Craftily Yours!
I love to color.  I really love to color the FuN images from Dare 2B Artzy, like the flowers in the Flowers for Mom stamp set.
 I colored this flower with Copic markers:  R32, R35, R37, YR12, YR14, YR16, YG00, YG03, YG06, G40, G43, G46, B12, B14, B16, RV52, RV55, C1 and C3.  Lots of Copics; lots of fun!  Here’s a close up showing the detail in this beautiful flower:

The sentiment is a die from Dare 2B Artzy, called Love You Layer Die.  The background paper is from the Fields of Joy collection.  I finished off the card with some white pearls.
Have you “liked” us on Facebook yet?!  You should!  There’s all kinds of beautiful inspiration.  Be sure to also check out all D2BA’s products here!
