Thank you, neighbor!

Hi!  My husband and I were recently surprised by our neighbor’s random act of kindness.  Our wonderful neighbor was out mowing his grass, had a little extra time, and decided to mow our lawn, too!  You should’ve seen the huge grin on my husband’s face…priceless!

As a little thank you to our neighbor and his family, I created this colorful thank you card attached to a box of locally made, delicious cookies!

Watermarked(2017-04-19-0936)

After creating the background using distress ink blending, I stamped the butterfly and flower images using Dare 2B Artzy’s Copic friendly Totally Black ink.  I colored the images from Flowers for Mom, Butterfly Inspiration, and Butterfly using the following Copic markers:
RV10, RV04, RV09
YG11, G14, G17
BG01, B04, B05
C1, C3, C4, C5
Accents were added with Sakura Glaze pens and Wink of Stella.

The images were cut out using the coordinating dies for Flowers for Mom and Butterfly Inspiration!  The large flower and the butterfly were mounted using foam tape for extra dimension.

I hope our neighbors enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed creating it!  These stamps make crafting so much fun!

Happy stamping, and I hope you spread some crafty kindness this week!

Flowery Birthday Wishes

Add cardstock strip to card as shown.

Stamp one extra flower onto cardstock and fussy cut. Attach to card.

Boxed Set of 6 Note Cards

Hi everyone! Leslie here to share a Dare2BArtzy DT inspiration project with you today, a fun set of 6 boxed note cards using the Flowers for Mom stamp set, Paradise ink and Blissful Bloom paper.

I created another boxed set of 6 note cards. My inspiration originally came from a tutorial I found for a set created on a smaller scale, which you’ll remember I shared about a month ago, so I adjusted the measurements to accommodate regular A2 sized cards. My version has a magnet closure under the flap, and I also decorated the back of the box. I used the absolutely gorgeous double-sided Blissful Bloom paper layered on white cardstock, and of course, I used the decorative strip across the top of the 12 x 12 sheets which all Dare 2B Artzy papers have. I stamped the sentiment in Paradise ink, punched it with an oval punch and layered it on a scalloped oval. I embellished it with several tiny flat-back pearls.

I designed the ‘hello’ note cards to coordinate with the box, using both sides of the paper and the decorative strip. I stamped the sentiment in Paradise ink on a tab which I tucked under the strip, and added some flat-back pearls.

A Big Shimmery Bloom

Happy Artzy Wednesday everyone! Tonya here from Krafty Enchantments again. Hope you’re enjoying some spring-like weather in your neck of the woods. It’s been in the upper 70’s here in Colorado. Loving that!

For my card today, I went with a CAS design, but I did break out my new Gansai Tambi Pearl water color palette to play. The palette has 6 very pretty pearlescent colors: pink, orange (salmon), yellow, green, blue and white.

I’d tested these water colors on both dark and light colored paper to see which looked better. Not all pearlescent water colors work well on white or light colored paper so I always test my water color pallets on several different types of paper when I get them.

For this card, I decided to play with one of my favorite stamps from Dare 2B Artzy, the Big Bloom flower. I stamped and heat embossed the Big Blooms stamp set onto some black 110 lb. cardstock with some copper embossing powder.  Note: I believe that they do make black water color paper but I couldn’t find it locally and had to improvise for my project.  If you’re going to use water colors however, it’s a good idea to use a heavy weight cardstock if you don’t have water color paper. For my project, I used minimal water and it worked fine, but if you were going to saturate your paper you’d want to test 110 lb cardstock first to make sure it would hold up with the water.

Once my image was embossed I was ready to add the water colors to it. Using an aqua brush I added a couple of drops of water directly to my pink and yellow water color palette. I mixed the water around with the color the consistency was a little thicker than you’d normally use for water coloring. I wasn’t sure how many coats of color I would need on the black cardstock so I started with a thin layer of the pink. I alternated pink on the petals with the yellow and then added the blue for the circles on the petals. I allowed the first coats to dry back a bit to see how transparent it was when dry. I ended up adding 2 additional coats, each a bit thicker to get a more rich color that wasn’t so transparent. The end result was a gorgeous shimmery color.

I die cut the cardstock with my favorite scalloped square die.

Next, I die cut a scripty looking “hello” from some metallic gold paper. I glued two layers together to make the die cut work a bit more pronounced.  I added the final die cut at a slant on the front.

Finally, I added some iridescent yellow sequins to the card front and the entire panel was added to a hot pink piece of cardstock and then glued down to a black cardstock card base. I also added a piece of the hot pink cardstock to the inside of the card so that I could write a message to the recipient.

Although my card today is pretty simple, I love how the shimmery water color looks on the Big Blooms flower against the black cardstock. It’s so hard to capture the shimmer in the photos, but trust me it’s so pretty.

Love is in the Air

Hello, Hello Dare 2B Atrzy friends!!

Janette here coming to you with a Easter candy hangover!! Tell me I’m not alone, gah!

Today, I am sharing a card created with the D2BA Love is in the Air stamp set and colored pencils.

(products linked at bottom of post)

I love this sentiment not only for what it says, but because with it I can use a myriad of sentiments on the inside for versatility. I began by stamping the image in Sunset Yellow D2BA Premium Ink so that the outline could easily be disguised under color. I did use a sticky note to mask so that I did not over stamp the image that, in the end, looks as though it is in front.  The sentiment was then stamped in Totally Black D2BA Premium Ink.

IMG_5244

Next, I broke out the Prismacolor Premium colored pencils for this no-line look card. I love the texture that pencils offer on a rough surface, paper with tooth. The most important step, for me, with colored pencils is dark and light. The shadows must be deep. The closer to black the better. And the lights must be bright, preferably white.

Finally, I trimmed down this A2 card just a smidge so that I could add a strip of houndstooth accent paper and popped on a few sparklers.

Check out all D2BA’s products here! Don’t forget about the newest D2BA Challenge themed “Anything Goes.” The current challenge is always posted in the sidebar to the right at the top.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card as much a I enjoyed making it. Leave a link to your D2BA projects in the comments. We’d love to see what you are making! Hope to see you again soon, thanks so much for visiting!

Creatively Yours, Janette

Adventure

Hi again! I’m Vickie Y and excited to share another card as the April guest designer.

Last week I mentioned in my intro that I live in a resort town. Our town is situated between two man-made recreational lakes. Growing up we spent a lot of time playing, waterskiing, and boating on each lake. When I saw the Live Love Lake stamp set I knew it would provide lots of special memories and creative FUN!

For my card, I used one of my favorite watercolor background techniques using an acrylic block, inks, and a water spray bottle, along with watercolor cardstock.
4 16 inks vky
I used the D2BA Tropical Ink Cubes to ink up the acrylic block (see below), then  spritzed it with water, and smooshed it down onto the watercolor cardstock and let it sit for a minute or two before lifting it. I let the cardstock air dry (a heat tool can be used to speed up the drying process).

Once the ink was dry, I trimmed the panel and then used the Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black Premium ink to stamp the images and sentiment. I layered the stamped panel over the Dare 2B Artzy Slate designer paper from the D2BA Doodles Variety Paper Pack and dark blue card base.

Here is another card created using this background technique and the Flip Flops stamp set and the Flip Flops and Adirondack dies.

With Easter being this weekend, I thought it would be fun to use the super adorable Raggity Rabbit stamp set!!

I absolutely love the adorable rabbit stamp in this set, so I decided that the rabbit was going to be my main focus!  No sentiments or other images on the front, just this cute image!

I added a few layers of pattern paper and ribbon to add some interest!

I saved the sentiment for the inside…

Be Bold – Mixed Media Card

Karen N here from Craftily Yours.  Today, I’m sharing a card that stretched my creative boundaries a bit using Totally Tracy Chipboard and the Be Bold Stamps.

D2B-hello2

For the background, I used Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink through a stencil.  For the flower, I used TH distress paint in Seedless Preserves, then stamped it in Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink and splattered it with white Dylusions Ink.  The center is Nuvo Drops.  Here’s a close up:

I’m Thinking of You

Hi all it’s Vicki Dutcher from All I Do Is Stamp.  Today I made a clean and simple card.  I love seeing the black and white backgrounds with a pop of color with the main image, in blogland.  I just had to try it for myself.

I have fallen for this mandala type of flower from the Blissful Blooms stamp set.  It is so relaxing to color this fun image.  Today I used a monochrome of blues.  I kept the side border black & white to “pop” the flower.  I have to say, I am happy with this CAS card. :)

Have you tried this trend? It does make for a striking card, don’t you think?

I’ll have another post at the end of the month, so I will see you then~

A Card For Mom

Hi Dare 2B Artzy friends!

Tasha here from CraftyPinkPixie.com sharing a Mother’s Day card created with the beautiful Flowers for Mom stamp set!

d2ba april 4

For this project, I created a book card fold using some D2BA pattern paper. To coordinate with the green in the print, I layered the fold on green glitter cardstock which added tons of shimmer. This card fold is so fun because it pops out when the card is opened.

d2ba april 6

For the inside, I selected one of the pretty floral designs, embossed it with rose gold powder, and used the matching dies to cut it out. I love the look of embossed flowers!

d2ba april 5

The sentiment selected was “Happy Mother’s Day” and was stamped on cream paper with D2BA black ink.

d2ba april 2

Lastly, I created a band from the same glitter paper to hold the card together. The center image was embossed, die cut, and colored to coordinate with the inside flower.

I hope you enjoyed this project and are inspired to create with the Flowers for Mom stamp set!

Have a wonderful day!
